This program is a developmental alternative to traditional AAU for girls in g.4-6

We want the girls to have the opportunity to learn, develop, and get involved in a way that sets them up for future success. For this season, this team will focus primarily on player development instead of competitive tournaments. The plan is to have the girls attend one skills practice once per week with our Breakout skills training staff. In addition, they will have one team practice of their own each week in Norwell with Coach Veronica Carney where we will work on developing team offensive and defensive concepts as well as additional fundamentals work and intra-squad games. Veronica played basketball at a high level including varsity and AAU all through high school and had multiple opportunities to play in college. She’s the perfect coach for this program. The girls will love her energy, enthusiasm, and encouragement! We’ve used a similar model in the past and found that the girls really enjoyed the experience.

The program would follow the same general timeline as our other teams in that it will start in the last week of March and run through the first weekend in Nov. and will consist of 8 skills sessions and 8 team practices. The cost for this alternative program would be substantially less than the traditional AAU experience since we will not be competing in the (expensive) tournaments and won’t need uniforms (we will give each player a new Breakout T-shirt!). The combination of the intensive skills training, team coaching, and consistent practice-embedded live-action opportunities should create a strong opportunity for development for the players while maintaining a level of competition that is appropriate (and fun) for everyone.

- Team Practices run on... Mondays from 5:00-6:00 at the Wolves' Den in Pembroke (starting Sept.16 and ending on Nov.4, skipping Columbus Day) 

- Skillz Practices run on ... Wednesdays from 4:30-5:40 at Furnace Brook Middle School in Marshfield (starting Sept.11 and ending on Oct.30)
